Tuesday, April 08, 2008; Milford Police Station conference room; Meeting started 7:10 pm
Those present: Ric Mueller, Greg Koenig, Al Zoeller, Dalton Burg, Mike Wilson, Mary Boyle.
2 gift cards unclaimed from Expo - 1 $25 Speedway Gas Card and 1 $25 Applebees gift card - it was decided to keep the gift cards for future events instead of trying to track down the winners. Ric talked to another vendor who did this. Mary will hang onto the cards for future use
Al and Greg discussed rebuilding equipment. They will use old equip. for 1st event and will rebuild before 2nd event.
Final confirmation is needed on dates for skate events. All those present have agreed that the proposed dates for skate events are good. These dates are now finalized and can officially be put on advertisements & flyers.
June 21st skate day Ric is concerned that we need details to start promoting it. ARC is still deciding on their route and if they can be here on June 21st. Ric also states we need a different judging system that is more fair and weighted. Discussion between all is how to classify kids for competition so it is fair. Do we split kids by age or level? Greg & skaters think we should split into beginner, intermediate and advanced. The kids will decide which level they are. There will be color coded wrist bands for each level. They will get a wrist band and practice for an hour or so before the comp. During this hour the judges will watch them and decide if any of them need to be reclassified and receive a different wrist band. Discussion was to have three judges one for judging style, one for judging technique & one for difficulty. Greg suggested lining Line up a minimum of 5 judges so we have alternates. Ric suggested we pick judges who will be impartial.
Consolation prizes were discussed, possibility of getting special t-shirts made for skate day and giving those away. It was discussed to use the local tshirt shop for those.
It was suggested and everyone agreed it would be good to do other stuff on skate comp day guitar heroes, WII competition ; x-box, playstation, etc. It was noted that we need to not be liable if someone brings their personal electronics and it gets broken perhaps we need a waiver. Other suggestions were ddrlady.com to run a guitar hero comp.
Dalton & Mike know the owner of skate shop in Howell and will talk to him about being a judge other possible candidates are Kevin Zeigler, Dr. Rick Stevens, Grant Fleugel, Jake, Copes.
Will start to plan Milford Memories skate comp after National Skate day and adjust the competition accordingly.
Greg and the youth will have a break out at the next FOMSP meeting and nail down the details/rules for the comp. so we can type up the rules and get them posted on website and on flyers.
Flyers for school Ric got pricing from ABC printing who offered to do a discount print job for us at the Expo.
Office Max 29cents/pc
ABC-35 cent/pc 100 gloss coat (poster quality). It was discussed that this quality is too high and Ric will get another quote from them for plain old color copies.
Ric thinks we need roughly 1000 for school distrib., but will speak with Janet Roberts regarding this. Will plan on doing in b/w unless Bob Saks wants to pick up cost for color copy.
Need to switch last paragraph paragraph on the flyer from the bottom of the page to the top Mary will make this change and email flyer to Ric
Skate clinics @ YMCA Ric to meet w/ Jennifer Wilbur at the YMCA to find out details.
Fundraisers need to narrow down the fundraisers; once narrowed down we need to confirm the details.
Texas Hold’Ems - Al has a contact who runs them he will call this person and find out details, including what he will charge us, if any. Al attended a tournament that this person ran for Bob Saks and was mpressed with how he ran it. They did not have a dealer at each table, but instead they passed the deal. Ric did not think this feel within the rules that were set for us by …?? The gaming commission?
Mike Wilson is interested in doing battle of bands fund raiser and wants to know how to go about it. We told him to research it, talk to someone who has done it and find out what he needs. We asked him to meet with us at the next FOMSP meeting to update us on his progress.
Fundraisers to pursue:
Heavner no cost to us makes it a go Need to decide what day/date & what time Ric to ask Heavner for details.
Texas Holdem possibility of making a lot of money makes it a go.
St. Georges no cost to us makes it a go

Walled Lake Wake/skate jam no response from repeated contact
Mystic Creek too many skate events going on this summer will keep in mind
for possible golf outing
Milford Mountain Bike Assn.
Emily Ridgeway from the Milford Twp. Parks & Rec Committee left a fundraiser idea for our review. It is a FOMSP Skate Milford button, black logo on neon green paper to consider for possible sale ($1 each) at our events. Ric & Mary thought is was a good idea. Need to find out cost from Emily. No comment at this time from Greg and Al.
