FoMSP Committee Meeting 2/26/08

New Business:
• Tom Callan passed away – family asks that if people want to donate, to donate to the FoMSP.
• Ric requesting someone volunteer to attend the 3/17/08 Parks and Rec meeting as Mary will be out of town. Greg Koenig says he may be able to attend.
• Hungry Howies is willing to let us use warmer bags plus free delivery to high school – plus special pricing of $2.99/pizza.
• Ryan to work on Uncle Sam poster
• FoMSP may be involved in the Walled Lake Wake Skate Rails Challenge in late July
• Luke suggests and volunteers to create public newsletter about Skate Park – will work with Greg to add website link.
• Amber Lights fundraising calendar discussed. Amber is offering free photography and suggests 2 year calendar – will be at next meeting to discuss.
• Texas Hold-em tournament discussed. Ric states Ken Rifenberg may be at next meeting to discuss – he is referred by Bob Longuski and has run these events before.
• Hazardous Waste day fundraiser idea is cancelled
• Possible Heavner Canoe fundraiser discussed
• 5 or 6 potential Grant Application destinations.
1. Leah Groya/Don Greene have no leads at this time
2. Roxanne provided lead of Lorisa Brittan – who requests Ric send her the Gannet Grant app so she can review and suggest changes. Mary inquires about her fees – she is willing to work with us on costs. All agree to invite her to next board meeting to discuss further.
3. Ric attempting to contact Derk (brother of Pine Lake Ski School) who has experience in grant writing.
Old Business:
• PayPal donation button on website in process – just waiting for “test transactions” to go through.
• Website needs to be updated under “calendar” section per Ric
Upcoming Events:
Pool Party:
• Meet at 5pm at Concession stand
• Ric will bring coffee pot, Al will bring coffee
• Candy bars/candy items, chips, etc will be purchased for estimated 100 people
Huron Valley Expo:
• Mary not available for set-up on Saturday
• Ric to pick up set up equipment
• Keychain skateboard as incentive? Cindy Bell to look into pricing and time involved.
2008 Skate Days:
• April 26
• May 17
• June 7 (Community Picnic)
• June 21 (National Go Skateboarding Day) – possibly to be held at Holden’s or Bob Saks
• August 8-10 (Milford Memories)
• September 20 (Car Show) – will need alternate location
• October 4 (Community Picnic)
